Here are a few facts about Islam for you to remember:

Qur'anic Facts:

- The First Surah to come down to Prophet Muhammed (P) is Suratul Al-‘Alaq (The Clot) in the Holy city of Makkah.

- All Suar (Chapters) were brought down from Allah through an angel called Gabriel delivered directly to Prophet Muhammed (P).

Most of the Surah came down to Prophet Muhammed (P) in Cave Harrah’.

- Did you know that the Prophet Muhammed (P) said: “Whoever recites the first four verses of Suratul Baqarah, Ayatul Kursi along with the two verses that follow it, and the last three verses of the same Surah will not see any bad or sorrow in his life or his wealth: Satan will not come near him, and he will not forget the Qur’an.

- Dhul-Qida is the first of three sacred months mentioned in the Holy Qur’an. In this month, supplications made for fulfillment of crucial and very necessary needs are heard and accepted.

Historical Facts:

- Sayeda Fatima Masumah (S.A.) was the most learned scholar at her time after the Imams (A.S.), and very religious lady and was greatly revered by the Holy Imams (A.S.).

- Did you know that Imam Al-Ridha (A.S.) has said about Sayeda Fatima Al-Masumah (S.A.), “Whoever performs the Ziyarah of ‘Fatima Masumah’ in Qum is like the person who has performed my Ziyarah.”

- Did you know that both the Battles of El-Jamal and the Battle of Siffeen took place in the 36th year of Hijra, just a few months separated from each other and just a few months after the inauguration of Ali (AS) as the Khalifa (Caliph) of Rasulullah (SA)? Now what does that indicate and point to?!

- On 8 Shawwal, 1344 A.H., the holy shrines of 4 Imams, over 200 Companions, and the wives of the prophet (P.) were Demolished in Al-Baqi’ Cemetery, AlMadina AlMunawwara, Saudi Arabia

- The Battle of Uhud occured on 15 Shawwal, 3 A.H. and it resulted the martyrdom of Hamzah, the uncle of prophet Muhammed (P.)

Increase Your General Islamic Knowledge:

- Islam is an Arabic word meaning submission to God. As a religion Islam calls for complete acceptance of and submission to the teachings and guidance of God. The word has connotations of peace and wholeness. It has the same root as “salam” - peace

- Did you know that Prophet Muhammed (P.) had some important sayings regarding knowledge and some of them are “To acquire knowledge is binding upon all Muslims, whether male or female.” And “The ink of the scholar is more holy than the blood of the martyr.”

- Did you know that according to Rasulullah (P.), a man teaching his child good manners, is better than giving one bushel of grain as alms. Remember that!
