PART VII

WHY DOES AL-ZAHRA’ (A.S.) HAVE TO

OPEN THE DOOR?

In This Chapter

In this Chapter, we will discuss points relevant to the following:

1. Ali’s zeal and manliness prohibit him from letting al-Zahra’ (A.S.) open the door to the assailants.

2. Ali’s courage prohibits him from letting al-Zahra’ (A.S.) face the danger as a result of opening the door before the folks.

3. Al-Zahra’ (A.S.) is ever confined to her chamber; how could she face the men?!

4. Why did not al-Hasan or al-Husain (A.S.), or Fidda, or Ali (A.S.) or al-Zubayr, or any of the Hashemites present inside open the door instead?!

5. Those seeking shelter inside the house were all armed; so, how could the Commander of the Faithful (A.S.) expose her (A.S.) to danger?

6. Al-Zahra’ (A.S.) is the trust of the Messenger of Allah (A.S.); so, how could the Commander of the Faithful (A.S.) thus expose her to danger?

7. Beating al-Zahra’ (A.S.) is a “personal matter” irrelevant to the caliphate, and the Prophet (A.S.) never told Ali (A.S.) not to defend himself or his family in personal matters. Rather, he told him not to initiate a battle on account of the caliphate which is a public issue related to the entire Islamic reality.

8. How could those present hear what was happening to al-Zahra’ (A.S.) and yet refrain from going to her rescue?

These are the points which we will tackle in this chapter. Upon Allah do we rely, and from Him do we derive help and guidance; we plead to Him for all of that.
